Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon, is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Jordan. Located in the southern part of the country, this beautiful desert valley boasts stunning sandstone formations, ancient rock art, and a rich Bedouin culture. If you’re planning a trip to Wadi Rum, you may be wondering how to get there from various parts of Jordan. In this article, we’ll cover the different transportation options available to help you get to Wadi Rum hassle-free.

Wadi Rum desert is a protected area located around 30 km from the main highway that connects Amman with Aqaba. Even though there are signposts you can follow that lead you from the highway to the village, getting there can be a challenge sometimes and this is why we recommend the use of a navigation app if possible.

In order to enter the protected area you have to pass from the Visitor Center where you can purchase your entrance ticket for a nominal fee of 5 Jordanian dinars per person, or simply show your Jordan Pass and enter for free. After entering the reserve, continue down the road for about 7 kilometers and you will arrive at the Wadi Rum Village. On your right-hand side, you will see the Wadi Rum Rest House, which serves as our meeting and starting point. If you’re coming by car, you can park your it for free in the adjacent parking lot. If you’re arriving by taxi or bus, simply ask your driver to drop you off in front of the Wadi Rum Rest House.

There are 3 main ways to reach us, by (rental) car, by taxi or by bus. We are going to explain each option below:

Wadi Rum by (Rental) Car

If you’re planning to visit Wadi Rum desert from anywhere in Jordan, we highly recommend renting a car. This mode of transportation offers the most flexibility and freedom, especially if you’re traveling with a larger group or plan to visit many different places across the country. The road system in Jordan is generally well maintained and traffic signs are available in both English and Arabic.

All of our tours start from the Wadi Rum Rest House in the Wadi Rum village, which is approximately 7 km from the Visitor Center. You can easily drive there by a normal car, park safely, and meet us at our designated meeting point.

There are several car rental companies across Jordan that offer services in all major cities and airports. You can easily arrange your rental online or in person, and with a quick internet search, you can find all the necessary information including special offers and reviews.

To Wadi Rum by Taxi

If you prefer not to rent a car or drive by yourself, we offer the option of arranging a taxi from most major cities in Jordan directly to our meeting point in Wadi Rum. When you book your tour, simply indicate your interest in this option in the “comments” section, and we will provide you with all the necessary information. We don’t take any commission for the transfer, as we always strive to give back to the local community as much as possible.

Our taxi prices are per trip and per car, with each car accommodating up to 4 passengers with average luggage. Please note that prices may vary depending on your location, so be sure to check with us when you make your reservation.
